No data sellingWe do not sell personal information or use vault content for advertising.
You stay in controlAccess, export, correct, or delete eligible information and your account.

01 Scope and who we are

This Privacy Policy applies to Akidni’s website at akidni.com, the Akidni mobile application, and related support, synchronization, sharing, and account services (together, the “Services”). Akidni (“Akidni,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is responsible for personal information processed in connection with the Services, except where this policy explains otherwise.

This policy does not apply to third-party websites, applications, or services that you access through Akidni. Those providers control their own privacy practices.

Plain-language promiseWe aim to collect only what is necessary to provide, protect, and improve Akidni. We do not use the contents of your encrypted vault to build advertising profiles.

02 Information we collect

The information we process depends on how you use Akidni and which features you enable.

CategoryExamplesSource
Account informationName, email address, account identifier, authentication status, language and preferences.Directly from you or an authentication provider you choose.
Vault contentCards, tickets, invitations, QR codes, credentials, secure notes, images, labels and folders you choose to save.Directly from you, your device, or a source you authorize.
Device and technical dataDevice type, operating system, app version, IP address, language, crash reports, diagnostic events and security logs.Automatically from your browser, device, app, and infrastructure.
Usage dataFeature interactions, session dates, settings changes and aggregate performance data. We do not treat plaintext vault contents as usage analytics.Automatically when you use the Services.
CommunicationsMessages sent through our contact form, support requests, survey responses and feedback.Directly from you.
Transaction dataSubscription status, purchase date, plan and receipts. Payment processors generally handle payment credentials directly. From you, an app store, or payment provider.

We may receive limited information from app stores, identity providers, crash-reporting providers, security vendors, or other services you deliberately connect. We do not collect contacts, photos, camera data, or location unless a feature requires it and you grant the relevant device permission.

03 Encrypted vault content

Vault content can include highly sensitive information. Where encrypted vault features are available, content is designed to be encrypted before it is stored or synchronized. Access to readable content should be limited to you and devices or people you explicitly authorize. Some supporting metadata—such as item type, synchronization status, storage size, or timestamps—may be processed separately to operate the Services.

Features such as preview generation, import, account recovery, shared links, or customer support may use different technical flows. Before enabling a feature, we will provide appropriate information where it materially changes who can access content.

Payment-card safetyDo not save a card PIN, CVV/CVC security code, full magnetic-stripe data, or another authentication secret that card-industry rules prohibit retaining. Akidni is an organizer and secure-storage service, not a bank or payment-card issuer.

04 How we use information

We may use personal information to:

  • Create, authenticate, maintain, and synchronize your account and vault.
  • Provide scanning, organization, search, sharing, backup, recovery, and device-management features you request.
  • Detect, prevent, investigate, and respond to fraud, abuse, security incidents, and technical problems.
  • Send service messages, security alerts, product notices, and support responses.
  • Measure reliability and improve usability using limited technical and aggregate data.
  • Administer subscriptions and confirm transactions through app stores or payment providers.
  • Comply with law, enforce our Terms, protect rights and safety, and resolve disputes.

We do not use the content of your encrypted vault for targeted advertising, sell it, or train public artificial-intelligence models on it.

05 Legal bases for processing

Where laws such as the GDPR or UK GDPR require a legal basis, we rely on:

  • Contract: to create your account and provide features you request.
  • Legitimate interests: to secure, maintain, understand, and improve the Services, provided those interests are not overridden by your rights.
  • Consent: for optional communications, device permissions, or processing that legally requires consent. You may withdraw consent at any time.
  • Legal obligations: to comply with tax, accounting, consumer-protection, law-enforcement, and other applicable requirements.
  • Vital interests or public interest: only in the limited situations recognized by applicable law.

06 How we disclose information

We may disclose limited information to the following recipients when necessary:

  • Service providers: hosting, content delivery, customer support, authentication, diagnostics, communications, security, and payment providers acting under contractual restrictions.
  • People you choose: when you share an item, invitation, QR code, or protected link. You control what is shared, but recipients may retain what they receive.
  • App stores and payment providers: to administer downloads, purchases, subscriptions, refunds, and entitlement status.
  • Legal and safety recipients: when reasonably necessary to comply with valid legal process, protect rights or safety, investigate abuse, or defend legal claims.
  • Business transaction participants: in connection with a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets, subject to appropriate confidentiality and notice requirements.

We require providers to use personal information only for authorized purposes and to apply appropriate safeguards.

07 Sale, sharing, and targeted advertising

Akidni does not sell personal information for money. We also do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising or use encrypted vault content for targeted advertising. If these practices change, we will update this policy and provide any legally required opt-out mechanisms before the change applies.

08 How long we retain information

We retain personal information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy. Retention depends on the type of information, your account status, feature requirements, security needs, legal obligations, and dispute-resolution periods.

  • Account and vault data: generally while your account is active and for a limited deletion or recovery period after closure.
  • Encrypted backups: may remain until the relevant backup cycle expires and are protected against ordinary access.
  • Security and diagnostic logs: retained for a limited period appropriate to fraud prevention, reliability, and incident investigation.
  • Support and transaction records: retained as needed to resolve requests and meet legal, tax, and accounting duties.

When retention is no longer necessary, we delete, anonymize, or securely isolate information, subject to technical and legal limitations.

09 Security

We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information, including encryption, access controls, secure development practices, monitoring, backups, and incident-response procedures appropriate to the risk. Where supported, biometric authentication is performed by your device; Akidni should receive an authentication result rather than a copy of your fingerprint or face template.

No service can guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for protecting your device, account credentials, recovery information, and shared links. Contact us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access.

Security incident noticesIf an incident affects your information, we will investigate and notify affected users and authorities when required by applicable law.

10 International data transfers

Akidni and its providers may process information in countries other than the country where you live. Those countries may have different data-protection laws. Where required, we use recognized transfer safeguards, such as adequacy decisions, standard contractual clauses, contractual protections, and supplementary security measures.

You may contact us for more information about safeguards applicable to your information.

11 Your privacy rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Know whether we process your personal information and obtain access to it.
  • Correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
  • Delete information, subject to legal exceptions.
  • Export information in a portable format where technically feasible.
  • Restrict or object to certain processing.
  • Withdraw consent without affecting earlier lawful processing.
  • Opt out of sale, sharing, or targeted advertising where applicable.
  • Appeal a decision we make about a privacy request where local law provides that right.
  • Complain to your local data-protection or privacy authority.

To request deletion of your Akidni account and associated data, use our account deletion request page; no app installation or sign-in is required. This is a support-managed request, not automatic erasure. You may also email [email protected]. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request. An authorized agent may submit a request where permitted, but we may require proof of authority. We will not discriminate against you for exercising privacy rights.

12 Regional disclosures

European Economic Area, United Kingdom, and Switzerland

You may exercise access, correction, erasure, restriction, portability, objection, and consent-withdrawal rights as applicable. You may also complain to the data-protection authority where you live, work, or believe a violation occurred. Akidni’s role as controller or processor depends on the feature and context.

California and other U.S. states

Eligible residents may request access to categories or specific pieces of personal information, correction, deletion, portability, information about disclosures, and opt-out or limitation rights recognized by their state. Akidni does not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not offer financial incentives for personal information.

The categories described in “Information we collect” correspond generally to identifiers, customer records, commercial information, internet or electronic activity, approximate location derived from IP, and sensitive information you elect to place in your vault. We collect these categories from the sources and for the purposes described above and disclose them only to the recipient categories described in this policy.

13 Children’s privacy

The Services are not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16 without legally sufficient authorization. If you believe a child has provided information contrary to this section, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.

14 Website technologies and third-party services

We use Cloudflare Turnstile on phone sign-in and staff-enrollment pages to help prevent automated verification-code abuse. Your browser connects to Cloudflare for this security check, which involves network and browser information. Our server sends the resulting proof to Cloudflare for verification; it does not include your phone number, wallet contents, or wallet keys in that verification request. Turnstile is not loaded by our integration during normal wallet use. See Cloudflare’s Privacy Policy for its processing practices.

Our website and app may rely on hosting providers, content-delivery networks, font providers, app stores, authentication services, support tools, and other third parties. These services may receive network and device information such as IP address, browser type, and request timestamps when your device connects to them.

If we introduce non-essential cookies, advertising technologies, or optional analytics that require consent, we will provide an appropriate notice and preference controls. Your browser and operating system may also provide controls for cookies, permissions, and tracking preferences.

15 Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the Services, technology, or law changes. We will post the revised version here and update the “Last updated” date. If a change materially affects your rights or how we use information, we will provide additional notice when required, such as an in-app message or email.
